Robert E. Pries “proud Coast Guard veteran” Allegany, NY—Robert E Pries of 124 N. 3rd St. died Saturday (November 18, 2006) in the Bradford Manor after a lengthy illness. Born December 27, 1921 in Eldred, PA he was the son of Albert George and Mary Dorreon Pries. On June 18, 1950 at the First Presbyterian Church in Olean he married M. Louise Maynard who predeceased him September 11, 2006. Mr. Pries was a veteran of WWII having served with the US Coast Guard in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He had resided in Allegany since 1950 having moved to Bradford Manor ten years ago due to ill health. He had been employed for 42 years for Dresser Clark Co. in Olean and also worked at maintenance and lawn care in the Allegany community. He enjoyed fishing, boating and walking. Surviving are 2 daughters Nancy (Donald) Roll of Great Valley and Margaret Englund of Cheektowaga; 2 grandchildren Brian Englund and Jennifer Englund; 2 step grandchildren Dustin Roll and James Roll; 1 sister Beatrice Sanders of Van Wert, OH; 1 brother James (Faye) Pries of Brandywine, MD and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a sister Betty Pfleuger. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday (November 24, 2006) from 11:00am until time of services at 1:00pm. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allegany American Legion or to the Alzheimer’s Association of WNY 2805 Wehrle Dr. Suite 6 Williamsville, NY 14221-7380.
