Kenneth A. King
Allegany, NY—Kenneth A. King of 3974 Route 417 died Saturday (January 1, 2005) in the Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo from injuries sustained in a Dec. 7th pedestrian-automobile accident in Allegany.
Born in January of 1929 in Alma, NY he was the son of Floyd R. and Frances E. Gallets King. In 1957 in Allegany he married Susan A. Ellis who survives.
Mr. King was a 1946 graduate of Allegany Central School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and later graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1955. He had been employed for 17 years for !VanderHorst Corp. and later for Campbell Oil Co. prior to his retirement.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and belonged to several service organizations including the Allegany Knights of Columbus Council 1220, the Fourth Degree Olean Assembly #721, Allegany American Legion Post 892 and was a life member of the Olean Elk’s Lodge #491. He was a member of the Allegany Sixty Plus Club, past president of the WNY Council of the Knights of Columbus and he formerly served on the board for Allegany Central School as well as the Allegany Town Board.
Surviving besides his wife are 2 sons Keith (Susan M.) King of Salamanca and Kert (Eileen) King of Amherst, NY; 1 daughter Sheryl (Kevin) Carls of Allegany; 9 granddaughters; 1 brother Donald (Pauline) King of Allentown, NY and several nieces.
He was predeceased by a son Kevin King in 1973 and 2 brothers Robert King in 2000 and Bernard G. King in 1973.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (January 5, 2005) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
