Jay John Davis "former Hinsdale resident" Cayce, SC-- Jay John "Butch" Davis, 61, of 1827 Memorial Drive died Friday (February 11, 2005) in his home after a long illness. Born January 7, 1944 in Olean he was the son of the late Mildred Mary Compfort and Irvin D. Davis. Mr. Davis attended Hinsdale Central School and completed his education while serving in the US Navy from 1963 until 1967. At that time he moved south to work at the Carolina Eastman Kodak Co. where he took an early retirement in 1989. He attended the Holland Baptist Church in W. Columbia, SC. Surviving are 5 sisters Carolyn Davis of Olean, Marian (Stephen) Bolles of Allegany, Diana (James) Whitten of W. Columbia, SC, Beverly (Michael) Roth of Great Valley, Vicki (Roy) Hedlund of Hinsdale; a brother David (Ann Marie) Davis of Trenton, NJ and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother-in-law George Rinko. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean today from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (February 17, 2005) at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Rev. James Whitten, Jr., nephew to Mr. Davis from W. Columbia, SC, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Diabetes Association 315 Alberta Drive Amherst, NY 14226.
