Julia Anne Warters
Allegany, NY-- Julia Anne Warters of 3974 Rte 417W Lot 28 died Sunday (April 3, 2005) in Rochester General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born July 5, 1933 in Cleremont, PA she was the daughter of Ralph and Julia Spry Howard. On November 8, 1952 in Cleremont she married Robert John Warters who predeceased her April 18, 1974.
Mrs. Warters was a 1950 graduate of Smethport High School and also graduated from BOCES School of Nursing in 1984. She worked as a licensed practical nurse for J & S Home Health Care in Allegany and later for Eden Heights prior to her retirement.
She had been a resident of Allegany since 1974 and was a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, the Moose Lodge in Elkton, MD and the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW in Chesapeake City, MD. She loved reading.
Of her seven children, five are surviving Lori (Anthony) Kijewski of Allegany, Colleen (Daniel) !McGranaghan, Sr. of Dallastown, PA, Rosella (Charles) Ganoudis of Elkton, MD, John (Madonna) Warters of North East, MD and Janet Warters of Allegany; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Francis Howard of Conowingo, MD and James (Kathy) Howard of Johnsonburg, PA; a son-in-law Daniel (Yvonne) Peirce of Elkton, MD and a daughter-in-law Lottie Warters of New Castle, DE, several nieces and nephews and her beloved cat "Cuddles".
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by 2 children Jacqueline Anne Peirce on May 6, 2001 and William John Warters on January 9, 2002.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (April 7, 2005) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
