Andrew D. Leaskey
Pinehurst, NC – Andrew D. Leaskey of 190 Fox Hollow Road, Pinehurst, NC, formerly of Salamanca, NY died Wednesday morning, May 18, 2005 at Pinehurst Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pinehurst, NC.
Born February 21, 1924 in Salamanca, NY he was the son of Andrew B. and Cecelia V. Kubiak Leaskey. On June 30, 1947 at Transfiguration Church in Olean, NY he married Theresa M. Kwiatkowski who survives.
Mr. Leaskey served with the United States Navy during WWII aboard the USS Independence. Prior to his retirement in 1985, Mr. Leaskey owned and operated Leaskey’s Liquor Store in Salamanca, NY. He had resided in Portville, NY prior to his move to Pinehurst, NC in 1995.
Mr. Leaskey spent most of his life in Salamanca and was an active member of Holy Cross Church, the Moose Club, the Salamanca Fire Department, the Western NY Association for Retarded Children and was a former President of the Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons David (Colleen) Leaskey of Buffalo NY and Joseph (Ann) Leaskey of Pinehurst, NC; five grandsons; David (Missy) Leaskey, Timothy (Jennifer) Leaskey, Kenneth (Tracy) Leaskey of Buffalo NY, Joshua Leaskey, Philadelphia, PA and Jacob Leaskey, Blacksburg, VA and five great granddaughters Merin Leaskey, Hanna Leaskey, Maggie Leaskey, Ava Leaskey and Abigail Leaskey all of Buffalo NY. He was predeceased by one son, Mark A. Leaskey.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 3-6pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (May 23, 2005) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Transfiguration Church. Rev. Jerome Stelmach, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.
In lieu of flowers contributions could be made to the American Cancer Society or the Association for Retarded Children.
