Emeline A. Ray Olean, NY-- Emeline A. Ray of 710 Wayne St. died Tuesday (May 24, 2005) in Sweden Valley Nursing Home, Coudersport, PA. Born February 14, 1918 in Hinsdale, NY she was the daughter of Seymour and Carrie Snyder Masten. In 1951 in Olean, NY she married John Harris Ray who predeceased her in 1987. Mrs. Ray first attended school in Hinsdale and later attended an all girls school in Syracuse. She then worked for a dry cleaner store in Syracuse and in 1949 began working for the former Wiedman Ice Cream Co., Inc. in Olean. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Surviving are 4 children Daisy (Neil)Troutman of Union City, PA, Donald (Theresa) Ray of Bolivar, Dorothy (John) Flake of Wellsville and Richard Ray of Olean; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son John H. Ray, Jr. in 1995; 2 brothers Leo J. Masten and Ben G. Masten and 2 sisters Anna Showers and doris Broeckel. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday (May 27, 2005) from noon until 3pm at which time funeral services will be held. Rev. Jerome Stelmach will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery Veterans Field of Honor. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
