Carol Fay Murphy “Beloved wife, mother and grandmother” Olean, NY–Carol Fay Murphy of 1316 Washington St. died Tuesday (May 24, 2005) at the Olean General Hospital after suffering from a long illness. Born December 6, 1938 in Connellsville, PA she was the daughter of Edward and Marguerite Rice. On May 11, 1957 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean she married Robert T. Murphy, Sr. who survives. Mrs. Murphy graduated from Connellsville High School and later attended business school. She worked at the former St. Francis Hospital and later for Budget Print Center. She was then employed as a health care aide at Valley View Manor in Olean prior to her retirement. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Surviving besides her husband are 1 son Robert T. (Tammy) Murphy, Jr. of Olean; 2 daughters Lynn Murphy of Olean and Janine Murphy of Phoenix, AZ; 4 grandchildren; 6 brothers and sisters Shirley (Dale) Lincoln of Connellsville, Yvonne (Paul) Palumbo of Bowie, MD, Marlene Murphy of Connellsville, Edward (Trudy) Rice of Greensboro, NC, Terry (Peggy) Rice of Connellsville, David Rice of Connellsville; several nieces and nephews and 2 “adopted” grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (May 28, 2005) from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the funeral home with Rev. Donald Andersson, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Meals on Wheels.
