Obituary of Robert T. Murphy

Robert T. Murphy, Sr. "Beloved husband, father and grandfather" Olean – Robert T. Murphy, Sr. of 1316 Washington Street and formerly of 15th Street died Monday May 30, 2005 at the Olean General Hospital. Born in Olean on January 16, 1935 he was a son of John J. and Mary Ellen Walsh Murphy. On May 11, 1957 at St. Mary of the Angels Church he married Carol Fay Rice who predeceased him May 24, 2005. Mr. Murphy was a graduate of Olean High School. He served in the Unites State Marine Corps from 1958 through 1962 and was honorably discharged as Sergeant. Mr. Murphy owned and operated Budget Print Center in Olean for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a former member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and the STARS airplane club. He is survived by a son, Robert (Tammy) Murphy, Jr. of Olean; two daughters Lynn (Paul Carapellatti) Murphy of Olean and Janine Murphy of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren; and brothers Daniel (Sarah) Murphy of Allegany and Jack (Louise) Murphy of Dallas, TX; many nieces and nephews and two "adopted" grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by both parents and a sister Ellen Forness in 2002. Friends will be received on Wednesday June 1, 2005 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday (June 2) at 10:00 AM with Msgr. Thomas Walsh officiating. Burial and committal services will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery.
