"Longtime Olean Businessman"
Allegany – Eric S. Blumenthal of 221 White Oak Drive died peacefully Saturday June 18, 2005 in his home. Born in Newark, NJ on January 18, 1932 he was the son of Sander and Sally Diener Blumenthal. On September 11, 1960 in Canton Ohio he married Roberta E. Beyer who survives.
Eric was a graduate of Olean High School, class of 1951. He later attended Carson Long military school in Carlisle, PA and the University of Buffalo. He owned and operated S. Blumenthal Company in Olean for 49 years retiring in 1989. Eric was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel, and a former member of the YMCA. He loved animals and pets and was an active volunteer at the SPCA in Cattaraugus County. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed walking.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters Andrea (John) Fidurko of Olean and Marcia Blumenthal of Jamestown, NY; a son Neal (Sara) Blumenthal of Dayton OH; five grandchildren and an aunt Byne Friedman of Los Angeles, CA.
There will be no public visitations. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday June 20 at 11:00 AM at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean. David Shulman will officiate. Burial will follow at B'Nai Israel Cemetery, Olean, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the SPCA in Cattaraugus County, 2944 Olean-Hinsdale Road, Olean, NY or to !HomeCare and Hospice, 1225 West State St., Olean, NY 14760
