Allegany, NY--Filomena Mollica of 2208 St. Christopher Drive died Saturday (July 30, 2005) in the Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Born March 12, 1910 in San Giorgio, Sicily she was the daughter of Giuseppe and Rosaria Accordino Molica. On June 4, 1928 in St. Giorgio, Italy she married Frank Mollica who predeceased her February 15, 1973.
Mrs. Mollica came to the United States in 1928, first settling in Ohio and later in the Allegany area since 1941. She had been employed by the former Daystrom Furniture Co. and also for the former Armor’s Meat Co.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and was a devout catholic dedicated to raising her family. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking and she was an avid gardener.
Surviving are a son Natale (Ned) Mollica of Allegany and a daughter Sara Mollica of Allegany; 1 brother Anthony Molica of Delran, NJ and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by an infant daughter Santa Mollica in 1930; 2 brothers Philip Molica and Salvatore Molica and 3 sisters Giuseppina Calderone, Angelina Bibiano and Celestina Crisafulli.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (August 2, 2005) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure Church, the Allegany Fire Department or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
