MICHAEL J. SANKEVICUS PORTVILLE – Michael J. Sankevicus of 395 Portville-Eldred road died Wednesday August 3, 2005 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born in Rochester, NY on May 29, 1946 he was a son of John and Helen Fallon Sankevicus. On May 29, 1976 in Rochester, NY he married Barbara Klice who survives. Mr. Sankevicus was employed for various grocery stores including Acme Markets and Ried's Food Barn. He also worked for the Castle Restaurant, the Allegany American Legion and the Beef and Barrel. In more recent years, his interests and life experiences called him to the health care profession and he was employed for Homecare and Hospice and most recently the !ReHabilitation Center. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed bowling and baseball. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Joseph (Deanna) Smith of Arkport, NY and Christopher (Tracie) Smith of Castle Creek, NY; six grandchildren, Ashley, Katlynn, Brandon, Nickolas, Holly and Leighanna; two sisters, Mary (Terry) Leik and Sue Sankevicus and a brother Charles Sankevicus, all of Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by both parents. Friends will be received on Friday August 5, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean where funeral services will be conducted on Saturday (Aug. 6, 2005) at 11:00 AM. Rev. John Lounsbury, pastor of Corner Stone Church will officiate. Burial and committal services will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY. Memorials may be made to Corner Stone Church, 118 Brookview St., Olean, NY 14760; the Portville Fire Department or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
