"Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother"
Allegany, NY-- Patricia L. Wilber of 110 E. Main St. Apt. C-2 died Saturday (October 22, 2005) in her home. Born January 26, 1934 in Allegany, NY she was the daughter of Leo and Marie Hassett Forness. On August 23, 1952 in Allegany, NY she married Duane R. Wilber who predeceased her September 23, 1996.
Mrs. Wilber was a 1951 graduate of Allegany Central School and resided in Allegany all of her life. She was employed as a teller for the former Exchange Bank in Olean and later worked with Home Health Care through Cattaraugus County. She also worked as a school crossing guard for four years and most recently was employed as a secretary for 11 years for the Town of Allegany.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and was a life member of the Allegany Firemen’s Auxiliary. She was formerly a leader for the Camp Fire Council and served on its Board of Directors. As an active volunteer for many years she served as the treasurer for local fundraising efforts for the benefit of Children’s Hospital and also extended her special concern for others as a special education teacher and an Outreach volunteer through the auspices of the Greater Olean Association of Churches.
Surviving are 2 daughters Marcia (Troy) Baney of Adrian, MO and Cindy Schoonover of Falls Creek, PA; 2 sons Mark (Renee) Wilber of Allegany and Jeffrey Wilber of Waterville, ME; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 brothers Tom (Marilyn) Forness of Wellsville, Pete Forness of Allegany and Ray Forness of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Brenda Wilber in 1963 and a sister Ann Pezzimenti.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (October 26, 2005) beginning with a prayer service at 9:00am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM and Rev. Gregory Brennan, OFM, will concelebrate the mass. Burial will be in Five Mile Cemetery, Allegany. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department or to the American Cancer Society.
