Gary F. Hitchcock “Loving husband and father” Allegany, NY-- Gary F. Hitchcock of 3879 W. Branch Rd. died unexpectedly Monday (November 14, 2005) shortly after arrival at Olean General Hospital. Born February 19, 1948 in Olean, NY he was the son of Freeman T. and Edna B. Newberry Hitchcock. On July 9, 1971 he married Joanne Card who predeceased him March 24, 1994. On October 8, 1994 at the First Presbyterian Church in Portville he married Joanne Downing who survives. Mr. Hitchcock had attended school in Olean and in 1969 he enlisted in the US Army. Upon honorable discharge he completed his high school education and continued studying for eight years at Bible School where he became a certified pastor. He also took the Dale Carnegie Course. He had resided in the Ischua and Olean areas prior to moving to Allegany in 1997. He was employed by Dresser Rand Co. for 30 years and had also worked for the Ontario Knife Factory in Franklinville. Mr. Hitchcock was an avid hunter. His hobby was in breeding and raising horses and dogs and he also enjoyed karaoke. Surviving besides his wife are 8 children Laura (Larry) Atkins of Ohio, Sandra !DeBartollo of Cedarville, OH, Rev. Gary F. (Cindy) Hitchcock, Jr. of Tyler, TX, Scott (Jessica) Hitchcock of Medina, OH, Andrew Hitchcock of Gastonia, NC, Jenelle Seager of Warren, PA , Kara (Mike) Grader of Allegany and Emily Seager of Allegany; 11 grandchildren; 4 brothers and sisters Roy (Sheila) Hitchcock of Allegany, Nancy (Russ) Clute of Olean, Joanne (Fred) Crawford of Texas and Larry (Marina) Hitchcock of Berlin, Germany and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother Bruce Hitchcock. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday from 4 until 7pm. Funeral services will be held Sunday (November 20, 2005) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Mr. Hitchcock’s son Rev. Gary Hitchcock, Jr. will officiate. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
