Obituary of Richard D. Truman

Richard D. Truman "loving husband, father, grandfather" Allegany, NY-- Richard D. Truman of 52 E. Main St. died Monday (September 29, 2003) in the Buffalo General Hospital after a long illness. Born October 6, 1934 in Salamanca, NY he was the son of Harry and Dorothy Duffee Truman. On May 10, 1958 in Bradford, PA he married Beverly A. Baker who survives. Mr. Truman was a graduate of Salamanca High School and served with the US Naval Reserves during the Korean War. He worked in the dentistry business for over 40 years and in 1977 he established the Truman Dental Lab in Olean which he operated until his death. Mr. Truman enjoyed racing and boating. He especially enjoyed attending all the Ithaca College "Bombers" football games where his grandson is a member of the team. Surviving besides his wife are 3 sons Timothy Truman, Dean (Carol) Truman and Jack (Kelli) Truman, all of Allegany; 9 grandchildren Daniel, Amanda, Christopher, Robert "Hooter", Kasey, Justin, Abby, Richard and Jack; 1 sister Jean Jacobs of Mt. Pleasant, PA and 1 brother Jack (Donna) Truman of Olean and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Judy Truman in 1987 and a sister Lucy Dry. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Thursday (October 2, 2003) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Gregory Brennan, OFM will officiate. Burial will be in !McKean Memorial Park, Lafeyette, PA. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany Fire Department.
