Obituary of V. Ethel Wilber

V. Ethel Wilber “Grandma” Hinsdale, NY-- V. Ethel Wilber of 2843 Williams Hollow Rd. died Thursday (November 24, 2005) in the Olean General Hospital after a short illness. Born April 1, 1911 in West Virginia she was the daughter of Edward and Lily Short White. She married Myron G. Wilber who predeceased her November 20, 1985. Mrs. Wilber was raised in West Virginia and Ohio and had lived in the Franklinville, Allegany and Hinsdale areas most of her life. She had formerly been employed by the AVX Co. while it was operating in Franklinville. She enjoyed crocheting and growing flowers. She was fond of animals, especially cats, and will always be remembered as “Grandma” to all her family and friends. Surviving are 3 sons Ronald E. Wilber of Stillwater, NY, Virgil G. (Nancy) Wilber and Russ C. (Debbie) Wilber, both of Hinsdale; 15 grandchildren; several grandchildren; 2 sisters Della Monroe of Chillicothe, OH and Dorothy Christopher of Marietta, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son Robert Wilber who died August 31, 1986 and several brothers and sisters including Charles A. White, Robert White, Romie White, Wilmer White, Elizabeth Reibel, Stella Johnson, Lucy Newell, Ruby Bearhs and Ollie Christopher. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (November 28, 2005) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. James Mitchell, pastor of the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany, will officiate. Burial will be in the Five Mile Baptist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Five Mile Baptist Church.
