PAULINE SPENCER "Special Mother, Grandmother & Friend" OLEAN - Pauline Spencer of Spencer Drive died Thursday September 26, 2002 at her residence. Born in Olean on April 13, 1914 she was a daughter of Ralph and Ethel Kamery Hannigan. On December 16, 1933 she married Harold L. Spencer, Sr. who predeceased her in May of 1985. Mrs. Spencer was a businesswoman in the area for over sixty years having owned and operated the Red and White grocery store, Spencer's Dairy Barn and Spencer Mobile Home which she operated for over 40 years prior to retiring. She was a member of the Olean Senior Center and loved the outdoors, gardening and bowling. She is survived by one son, Harold (Linda) Spencer, Jr. of Olean; two grandchildren, Michael L. (Pamela) Spencer and Dawn Spencer both of Olean and great grandsons Corey Daniel and Darrick Michael Spencer, also of Olean. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Donald L. Spencer and Daniel H. Spencer; brothers Jack and Richard Hannigan; sisters, Marie Hartwell, Jeek Stevens, Jane Hannigan and Dot Stahley. There will be no public visitations. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday September 30, 2002 at 1:00 PM at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Road, Olean. Rev. Ronald Reichman will officiate. Memorials may be made to Homecare and Hospice or to the Olean Senior Center.
