"Master woodworker"
ALLEGANY - Ottavio !DiFazio of 7 Sunburst Lane died Thursday January 15, 2004 at the Olean General Hospital after a long illness.
Born March 4, 1919 in Augusta, Sicily he was the son of Louis and Concetta Circo !DiFazio. On September 13, 1942 in Our Lady of Angels Church in Brooklyn, NY he married Eleanor L. Apollonio who survives.
Mr. !DiFazio graduated from Hamilton High School in Brooklyn and later entered the US Army Air Corps where he served during WWII as a staff sergeant.
Mr. !DiFazio was a member of Carpenter's Union Local 2090 in NYC. As a craftsman and a woodworker, he was employed for many years as the plant manager for the former Seneca Craftsmen Co. in Salamanca. He resided in Long Island for many years, Allegany, NY for 21 years and in Florida for 18 years prior to moving back to Allegany in 2002.
Surviving besides his wife are 2 sons Thomas (Joanne) !DiFazio of Deer Park, LI and Steven (Darcy) !DiFazio of Kane, PA; 1 daughter Carol (David) Fisher of Allegany; 8 grandchildren Michelle, Jennifer, Thomas, Christopher, Melissa, Michael, Brandy and Ryan; 2 great grandchildren Adelle and Morgan; 5 sisters Frances Circo of Brooklyn, NY, Rose Caramagno of Dix Hills, NY, Adele Tiano of Woodbury, NY, Aurelia (Al) Miliano of Selden, NY and Mary (Michael) Karabeika of Ridge, NY and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 3 brothers Santo !DiFazio and Carl !DiFazio and a brother who passed away in childhood.
Friends will be received today (Friday) from 3-5 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Saturday (January 17, 2004) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany Volunteer Fire Department.
