“longtime Olean resident”
Allegany, NY-- Thelma M. !DaPolito of 121 Colonial Village, formerly of 137 N. 7th St. in Olean died Monday (January 19, 2004) in the Olean General Hospital.
Born December 25, 1914 in Yorkshire, NY she was the daughter of Joseph and Mabel Davis Greyber. On September 15, 1947 she married Steven A. !DaPolito who predeceased her February 28, 1971.
Mrs. !DaPolito was a graduate of Wilsonian High School in Angelica, NY and moved to Olean where she worked for ten years at Sears & Roebuck Co. She then worked for twelve years for the Olean Times Herald.
She was a member of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and its Altar Guild and she also volunteered for the Red Cross. Mrs. !DaPolito enjoyed and appreciated her many friends.
Surviving are a nephew Kim (Judy) Greyber of Jamestown; a great nephew Jeffrey and a great niece Laura Greyber, both of Jamestown.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a brother Edmond L. “Jim” Greyber on March 1, 2000 and a sister Eliska B. Gigee on May 20, 1999.
Friends will be received today from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (January 21, 2004) at 1:30pm in the funeral home. Rev. T. James Snodgrass, rector of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Catt. Co. SPCA 2944 Olean-Hinsdale Rd. Olean, NY 14760.
