Obituary of Rodney D. Hakes

Rodney D. Hakes "former Allegany resident" Fort Worth, TX-- Rodney D. Hakes of 9800 Heron Rd. died Friday (January 16, 2004) in his home after a brief illness. Born August 24, 1964 in Olean, NY he was the son of Donald James Hakes and Dorothy Chase Babb. Mr. Hakes was a 1982 graduate of Allegany Central School and moved to Fort Worth in 1982. At that time he enlisted in the US Air Force where he served until 1990 and attained the rank of sergeant. He then was employed as a US Postal Service letter carrier from 1990 until 2001, retiring due to disability. He was a person who was generous in helping others. He enjoyed collecting antiques and he also enjoyed fishing. Surviving are his father of Olean; his mother of South Wales, NY; a daughter Jessica Hakes of Ardmore, OK; 2 sisters Tammy (Willie) Roschetzky of Ft. Worth, TX and Michelle (Andrew) Roth of South Wales, NY; 5 nieces and 2 nephews. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday from 3-5 & 7-9pm and on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (January 26, 2004) at 1:00pm in the funeral home. Rev. James Mitchell, pastor of the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Diabetes Association PO Box 2680 North Canton, OH 44720 or to the Allegany American Legion.
