FRANK A. YEHL
Devoted husband and father
BRADFORD - Frank A. Yehl of Allegany, NY, died January 29, 2004 in the Bradford Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born October 16, 1919 in Allegany, a son of the late Alfonse and Elise (Sturm) Yehl. On September 13, 1952 he married the former Louise Scarlato, also of Allegany. He is survived by his wife, their son, Joseph (Jude Ann) Yehl, two grandsons, Sean and Colin, and a granddaughter, Madelyn, all of Allegany, and a brother, Frederick Yehl of Skaneateles, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog, Fletcher. He was predeceased by brothers Ernest and John.
Mr. Yehl was a graduate of Allegany High School and Alfred College of Technology. He was employed by General Electric in Schenectady, NY, prior to serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Soon after his discharge he became employed by Dresser Clark, where he worked for 38 years as a supervisor in the design drafting department and as a contract engineer. He retired in 1983. He was also a former member of the Masonic Lodge of Allegany, the Royal Arch Masonic Lodge of Olean and the American Legion of Allegany. Mr. Yehl also had long been a volunteer with Christmas In April and Meals On Wheels.
An avid walker, Frank could often be seen walking Fletcher in many parts of Allegany and Olean. He also loved to golf, having played for many years in the St. Bonaventure Senior (Geritol) League. But most of all, Frank showed everyone the true meaning of marriage through his unwavering devotion to his wife of over 50 years, particularly during her long illness.
The family will receive friends at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd, Olean, on Saturday, January 31 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, February 2, at 10 am at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany. Father Richard Husted, Pastor of St. Bonaventure, will be celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends make donations to the Allegany Fire Department, Meals On Wheels, or the American Cancer Society.
