Obituary of Evelyn J. Young

Allegany, NY- Evelyn J. Young, 96, passed away Tuesday (December 10, 2024) at The Pines of Olean after a short illness, with her family by her side. Born June 17, 1928, she was the daughter of Dana and Elva Studley Grimes. On December 6, 1952, in Angelica she married Frank Young who predeceased her July 28, 2003. Mrs. Young attended Bolivar Central School. She worked at Acme Electric as a laborer for many years and on the family farm. She then went on to work for Marion Rolls in Hornell and then Motorola in Arcade. Mrs. Young later worked at the Castle Restaurant in Olean for several years. She was a member of the Belmont Grange. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, her flower beds, and bird houses. Family was the most important thing to her and being with them is what she adored most. She adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her 3 children, Laraine (Sam) Wray of Hunt, Evelyn Kramer of Bradford, PA, and Douglas (Ellen) Young of Allegany; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son Duane Young, and a daughter Pamela Young. Family will receive friends on Monday (December 16, 2024) from 11am to 1pm at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean. A funeral service will begin at 1pm with Rev. Doug Travis of Harvest Field Ministries to officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship. Memorials if desired may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, www.komen.org.
