Marlene M. Garvin
Olean, NY Marlene M. Garvin, 66, of 1702 Allegany St., passed away Sunday (November 3, 2024) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born April 26, 1958 in Olean, she was the daughter of James and Laura Heinz Martel. On August 28, 1999 in Las Vegas, NV she married James W. Garvin who survives.
Marlene was a graduate of Allegany Central School and then attended Olean Business Institute. As a teenager she began working at the Cuba Tastee Freeze which was owned by her father. She also worked at Cuba Cheese for a period of time. In Olean, she worked for Mark Carapellatti at On the Side Liquor and then as a teller for the Olean Area Federal Credit Union where she retired from its Allegany location.
Along with her husband Jim, she loved maintaining her home. She had a touch for interior decorating, as well as outdoor gardening and landscaping. Her home always had a personal touch, especially at holiday time. Her other love was her memory of their dog “Zero” who was a fun and enjoyable part of her life for 16 years.
She leaves behind her husband Jim; a very special sister, Michele Bednar of Allegany; a sister-in-law Suzanne Garvin of Allegany; 2 nieces, Jennifer (John Work) Plano and Ashley (Jared) Hunt, both of Cuba, and 2 nephews, Christopher (Kelly) Clayson of Cuba, and Matthew Clayson of Portville, and 2 aunts Dorothy Lucas of East Aurora and Bertie Heinz of Reading, PA.
She was predeceased by her parents.
