Obituary of Lester Hamilton

Lester Hamilton Allegany, NY-- Lester Hamilton, 83, of Route 417 died suddenly on Monday (March 1, 2004) at his home. Born July 10, 1920 in Allegany, NY he was the son of Ernest and Frances Hitchcock Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton was a graduate of Allegany High School and enlisted in the US Army where he served during WWII. He then was employed by the former Ewing’s Hardware Store in Olean. He later worked as a custodian for the former Manufacturer’s Hanover Bank in Olean and then for St. Bonaventure University prior to his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Olean and served for years as head usher. Surviving are 1 sister Ivah Tomes and 12 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters Rosabell Bishop, Luella Green, Lyle Hamilton, Lloyd Hamilton, Lynn Hamilton, Agnes Hamilton and Rachel Hamilton. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (March 6, 2004) from 10:00am until noon at which time funeral and committal services will be held. Rev. David Johnson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
