Mary E. Dincher
Allegany, NY Mary E. Dincher, 94, of 129 N. 5th St. passed away Wednesday (January 17, 2024) at Cuba Memorial Hospital after a recent illness.
Born July 3, 1929 in Williamsport, PA she was the daughter of Lloyd A. and Augusta R. Pangrazzi Deisher. On June 9, 1956 in Williamsport, she married John E. Dincher, Sr. who predeceased her July 10, 2008.
Mary grew up in Williamsport and first worked for the telephone company. In 1968 she and John moved to Allegany where they raised their family and where from 1973 to 1993 she worked for Allegany Central School in both the elementary and high school cafeterias as a kitchen helper and as a monitor.
She was a devoted member of St. Bonaventure Church and was active in its many activities and ministries such as Bonafest, bingo, and a grief support group which she helped establish. She was also a Lady Knight of Columbus with the Allegany Council #1220. Mary enjoyed attending swim exercise class at the Olean YMCA for several years until 2020. She was a loving grandmother and for many years loved knitting a sweater for each of her grandchildren.
She leaves behind a son, Joseph M. (Kim) Dincher of Odenton, MD; a daughter Mary Anne McMahon of Riverside, CA; 7 grandchildren Jamie Boysha, Rene Hammond, Joshua McMahon, Mary Pat McMahon, Joseph Dincher, Jr., Jennifer Robinson, and Benjamin Dincher; 8 great grandchildren, Ryan, Brooke, Taylor, Alyvia, Anthony, Megan, Mila, Madison, and Makenna; 1 brother Donald Deisher of Nisbet, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband John, she was predeceased by a son John E. Dincher, Jr. on August 30, 2002, and a son-in-law Kevin McMahon.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-4pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday (January 22, 2024) at 11:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Michael Reyes, OFM, pastor, and Rev. Lou McCormick, OFM, will be concelebrants. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
