LOUISE M. YEHL,
"loving wife and mother"
ALLEGANY - Louise M. Yehl of 116 Clarence St., Allegany, NY, died Thursday (March 4, 2004) at the Waters of Allegany after a long illness.
Born February 8, 1920 in Allegany, Louise was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Becelia Scarlato. On September 13, 1952 she married Frank A. Yehl who predeceased her January 29, 2004.
Mrs. Yehl was a 1937 graduate of St. Elizabeth's Academy of Allegany and a 1941 graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo, NY. After graduation she was employed in the operating room of the former St. Francis Hospital in Olean. After her marriage to Frank, she excelled as a housewife and mother. She was a member of the St. Bonaventure Church of Allegany and its Altar and Rosary Society. Mrs. Yehl also had long been a volunteer with Meals On Wheels.
Affectionately known to her friends as "Babe", Louise was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and St. Bonaventure basketball. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and golf with her husband. But more than anything, her family, her home and her faith were her life, and her love could be seen in everything she did.
She is survived by a son, Joseph (Jude Ann) Yehl of Allegany; two grandsons, Sean and Colin and a granddaughter, Madelyn, all of Allegany; a sister, Virginia (Scarlato) Martiny, of Allegany, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Frank, she was predeceased by four brothers Anthony Scarlato, Louis Scarlato, John Scarlato and Michael Scarlato.
The family will receive friends at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean, on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (March 8, 2004) beginning with a prayer service at 900am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany. Father Richard Husted, pastor, will celebrate. Burial will follow at the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends make memorial donations of their choice to either Our Lady of Victory Homes of Charity in Lackawanna, NY, or, St. Bonaventure Parish Church of Allegany.
