Obituary of Patricia M. Schirrmacher

Olean, NY Patricia Marie Schirrmacher of 100 Inwood Drive, went to her eternal home with Jesus on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Olean General Hospital. Patti was born the seventh of eight children to Michael and Elizabeth Moran on September 1, 1956 in Salamanca, NY. Some years after her father’s death, her mother married Mark Moyer of Allegany then making an extended family with 13 children. Patti graduated from Allegany Central School in 1974. In 1976 she married her husband, John and began a family. She considered it a privilege to stay at home and raise her children. Once they were in school, Patti began working in the Olean City School District from 1989 until her retirement in 2022. Over the years, Patti had positively influenced the lives of numerous children with the goal to leave everyone she met in a better way. She succeeded in doing so. Her love for Jesus helped her to shine as an example by demonstrating genuine kindness and love to everyone. Patti leaves behind her husband, John, of nearly 48 years along with two children, Jessica (Michael) Schirrmacher-Smith of Olean, NY, and Jeffrey (Diana) Schirrmacher of Rochester, NY. In addition, she had six grandchildren: Evan, Nathan, and Alina Schirrmacher along with Paige, Jayde, and Wren Smith. She also leaves behind her siblings: Beverly Hall of Jamestown, NY, Mike (Mary) Moran of Rochester, NY Danny (Teri) Moran of Indianapolis, IN, Louise (Joe) DeCerbo of Olean, NY, Thomas (Cha) Moran of Goldsboro, NC; Extended Siblings: Joe (Sandy) Moyer of Buffalo, NY, Kenneth (Sylvia) Moyer of Allegany, NY, Jeff (Pam) Moyer of Palm Bay, FL, Lizbeth (Geoff) Green of Phoenix, AZ, and Jason (Sharon) Moyer of Clifton Park, NY; and in-laws: Paul (Molly) Schirrmacher of Buffalo, NY. Her parents had previously deceased over 30 years ago, as well as siblings Molly (Chuck) Butler (deceased in 2015), and Bill (Jeanette) Moran (deceased in 2021). There will be no visitation or funeral but rather a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers or memorials, her desire was to have others perform random acts of kindness to people - especially those in need or hurting. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
