Obituary of Elizabeth Stachewicz

Elizabeth Stachewicz "Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother" Olean, NY-- Elizabeth Stachewicz, formerly of Linwood Avenue Apartments and recently of Eden Heights died Wednesday (March 17, 2004) in The Pines Health Care Facility in Olean. Born November 17, 1911 in Buffalo, NY she was the daughter of Frank and Mary Kawa Patrzyk. In 1933 in St. Peter and Paul Church in Depew, NY she married Walter Stachewicz who predeceased her in June of 1977. Mrs. Stachewicz was a resident of Buffalo most of her life, having graduated from Depew High School. She had been a resident of Olean for the past 18 years and was a member of St. John’s Church. She enjoyed arts and crafts and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Surviving are a daughter Phyllis Brady of Olean; a son Gerald (Marcia) Stack of Cheektowaga; 5 grandchildren James Brady and Debra (Jim) Griffin, both of Olean, Kathleen (Timothy) Grace of Bemus Point, Susan Stack of Cheektowaga and Linda (Patrick) Pellow of Amherst; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a brother Joseph Patrzyk. Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Saturday (March 20, 2004) beginning with a prayer service in the funeral home at 12:30 pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm at St. John’s Church. Msgr. William Wangler, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, Lancaster, NY. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. John’s Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
