Martin L. “Mark” Winship Olean, NY Martin L. “Mark” Winship, 78, of 122 S. 1st St., formerly of the Ten Mile Rd., Allegany, passed away Thursday (October 13, 2022) at his residence. Born January 8, 1944 in Olean, he was the son of George and Viola “Marie” Chapel Winship. Martin was a veteran of the US Army, having served from 1962 to 1964. He worked as a pipefitter for Dresser Rand Co. for 42 years prior to his retirement in 2008. Family and friends affectionately called him “Mark,” or “Red.” He was an avid racing fan and particularly loved stock-car racing and go-cart racing. He was also a member of the national social organization, Royal Neighbors of America. He is survived by a daughter Salina (Mark) Bunk of Smethport, PA; 5 grandchildren Levi Winship, Sullivan Bunk, Penny Bunk, Elizabeth Bunk and Maddison Bunk; a brother Roger Winship of Ogdensburg and a sister Roberta Strait of Little Genesee, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 1 son Phillip Winship; 2 brothers Caryle Winship, and Dennis Winship, and 1 sister Georgia Winship. Friends will be received on Monday (October 17, 2022) from 11am until 2pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. Funeral services will begin at 2pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
