Obituary of Barbara A. Mohr

Barbara A. Mohr Cuba, NY Barbara A. Mohr, of 212 West Shore Rd., passed away Saturday (September 10, 2022) at Olean General Hospital after a short illness, with her loving husband by her side. Born March 13, 1950 in Olean, she was the daughter of William and Mary Daley Gumtow. On August 12, 1972 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olean she married Robert F. Mohr who survives. Barbara was a 1968 graduate of Olean High School and then attended Olean Business Institute. She first worked at the former Big N, and later the former Bradner’s Department Store. She worked several years at J. C. Penny Co. in Olean prior to her retirement. Reading was her passion. Her home was filled with books of all genres. Even more so was her love of family, especially her grandchildren whom she cherished. She grew up in Olean and attended Immanuel Lutheran where she taught Sunday School. In more recent years she enjoyed lake life at Cuba Lake with her husband, spending her days reading, watching movies, and doting on her grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband Robert of 50 years are 2 children Greg (Rachel) Mohr of Charlotte, NC, and Amy (Dennis) Field of Scio; 6 grandchildren Elayna Jennings, Ashton Jennings, Braeden Jennings, Brooklyn Mohr, Alex Field, and Corey Field; 3 brothers Mike (Lynn) Gumtow of Olean, Jon (Marcia) Gumtow of Olean and Dave Gumtow of Allegany and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. Funeral services will be held Thursday (September 15, 2022) at 10AM in the funeral home. Rev. Derek Cheek, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
