Robert J. Hopkins
Great Valley, NY Robert J. Hopkins, of 4850 Howe Hill Rd., passed away Monday (May 30, 2022) at the Buffalo General Medical Center.
Born July 17, 1960 in Salamanca, he was the son of Walter A. and Audrey M. Bates Hopkins. He was married to the former Patricia DiNickle who survives.
Robert was raised in Salamanca and his primary jobs over the years was as a bartender in Salamanca and as a worker at Cutco Co. in Olean.
He was also an avid outdoors person and cut and split cordwood. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He loved sharing those special times with his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with his great grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife Patricia are his daughter Tammy DiNickle of Ashtabula, OH; 5 grandchildren Jena Solarek, Andrew Solarek, Jr., Deanna Whitt, Tara Marani, and Skylyn Solarek; 7 great grandchildren Paige, Kaleb, Bella, Andrew 3rd, Remington, Jayce and Randi; 3 siblings Glenn Hopkins of Allegany, Kenneth (Nancy) Hopkins of N. Carolina, and Linda (Michael) Russo of Bradford, PA and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister-in-law Linda Hopkins on April 28, 2022.
The family invites friends to attend a kid-friendly Celebration of Life service on Sunday (June 12, 2022) from 3-9pm at The Pub in Great Valley. Music, a Chinese auction, and refreshments will be provided. The celebration service will be preceded by a graveside committal of ashes at 1:30pm in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca. Pastor Al Batt of Believers Chapel in Olean will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the SPCA of either Cattaraugus County or McKean County.
