Obituary of Jean A. Ahrens

Jeanne A. Ahrens Olean, NY Jeanne A. Ahrens, of Eden Heights, formerly of Aspen Manor, passed away Thursday (March 3, 2022) at The Pines of Olean after a recent admission. Born October 10, 1930 in Olean, she was the daughter of Gustav and Minnie Mae Travers Ahrens and was lovingly raised by her uncle and aunt, William and Mildred Ahrens. Jeanne was a 1949 graduate of Olean High School and attended St. Bonaventure University. She worked for the former Messer Oil Co. for 22 years as a bookkeeper and later for 11 years for the Beef ‘N Barrel Restaurant in Olean as an office manager until her retirement. Jeanne was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olean, and the Bolivar Country Club where she played and helped on tournaments. She also enjoyed league bowling. For years she volunteered at the Olean General Hospital, including the annual strawberry festival. She is survived by 2 nieces Judy Young of Allegany and Linda Swope of Halifax, PA. She was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Ostergard on June 8, 2014; a nephew John W. Ostergard on May 19, 2006; her Aunt Mildred Ahrens on April 30, 1980 and her Uncle William Ahrens. At Jeanne’s request, a private burial will take place at Allegany Cemetery on the William and Mildred Ahrens lot. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
