Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass for Stephen B. Kula on Friday (June 17, 2022) at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. All are welcome to join the family for a reception at the Allegany American Legion following the mass. Stephen B. Kula Lake Worth, FL Stephen B. Kula, 71, of 8646 Vista Greens Ct., Lake Worth, Florida 33467, passed away Friday (February 18, 2022) at JFK Hospital in Atlantis, Florida. Born February 24, 1950 in Olean, he was the son of Walter and Joan Geise Kula. On July 16, 1994 at Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville he married Mary Lou Fitzpatrick who survives. Stephen was a 1968 graduate of Allegany Central School. He attended the University of Texas at El Paso for a year, then completed study at the Pittsburgh Metallurgical Institute. He was a skilled iron worker and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association trade union. He moved to Florida in 1980 and worked for the power plant in Port St. Lucie, FL, and then 22 years for Reich Metal Fabricators, Inc. in West Palm Beach, FL until his retirement. Stephen was most enthusiastic about the game of golf, and he enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow golfers. He often played in the Times Herald tournament as well as many amateur tournaments and accumulated 13 holes-in-one during his playing years. He liked being with people, especially his friends at Duffy’s in West Palm Beach where he would go daily to chat. He loved watching the Buffalo Bills at Duffy’s too. Steve loved playing cards and slots at the casino. He leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Mary Lou; 3 siblings Paul Kula (Bev Bennett) of Olean, Judy (Rick) Crowley of Olean and Nancy Sealy of Jamestown; many loving nieces and nephews; his wife’s special cousins Craig (Barbara) Wilcox and Dana (Ellen) Wilcox, both of Hamburg and his wife’s aunt Shirley Wilcox, also of Hamburg. He was predeceased by his parents Walt and Joan Kula and a sister in law, Deb Kula. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass on Friday (June 17, 2022) at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. All are welcome to join the family for a reception at the Allegany American Legion following the mass. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Hospice of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
