Obituary of Robert E. Stout

OLEAN - Robert E. Stout, of 500 E. Spring St., passed away Saturday (Jan. 29, 2022) at Absolut of Allegany. Born April 3, 1943, in Olean, he was the son of Bernard E. and Florence Hitchcock Stout. Bob attended Olean High School, and later Houghton Academy, where he graduated in 1961. From 1961 to 1963, he attended Roberts Wesleyan College, and in 1971 graduated from Houghton College with a bachelor of art degree. In 1974 he received a masters degree in history from St. Bonaventure University. He worked at various places, including Bradford Regional Medical Center, the Cattaraugus County Office Building and the Cattaraugus County Nursing Home. He was later employed by Fred's Contract Cleaning in Olean and the Border Oil and Gas Co. in Allegany. Bob was a member of the Allegany Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed model trains and had a great collection of the Plasticville model houses, used to make train villages. He is survived by a brother, William (Judith Good) Stout of Cranberry Township., Pa.; a niece Mariah (Rodney) Carr of Mt. Airy, Md.; and two grandnieces, Shalyn, and Sheridyn. A memorial service will be held at the Allegany Baptist Church at a later date and will be announced. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Baptist Church, 3236 Maple Ave., Allegany, NY 14706. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
