Lettie K. Johnston “Wonderful mother and grandmother” Olean, NY—Lettie K. Johnston of 332 N. 13th St. Olean, NY died Monday (December 2, 2002) shortly after admission to Olean General Hospital. Born March 29, 1920 in Salem, Ohio she was the daughter of Roland C. and Berdena P. Champlin Kinsey. On December 24, 1939 she married Robert C. Johnston who died July 8, 1960. Mrs. Johnston was a graduate of Portville High School and attended Buffalo State Teachers College. As a resident of Olean for most of her life she had retired in 1989 from AVX, now Olean Advanced Products after several years of service. Surviving are 1 daughter Berdena J. (Bruce) North of Cuba; 4 sons Robert D. (Connie) Johnston of Lake Placid, Fl, Roland C. (Sue) Johnston of Webster, NY, James K. Johnston of Great Valley, NY and William D. Johnston of Buffalo; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 sister Carol (Larry) Lee of North Carolina; 1 brother John (Eva) Kinsey of Holley, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 1 brother Charles C. Kinsey and 1 sister Berdena Sheeser. Private funeral services will be held today (Wednesday December 3, 2002) in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean with the Rev. Ronald Reichman officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
