Obituary of David K. Shipley

DAVID K. SHIPLEY SALAMANCA - David K. Shipley of Front Avenue and formerly of Allegany, died Wednesday May 26, 2004 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born in Dobbs Ferry, NY on July 28, 1940 he was the son of Frederick and Florence Knight Shipley. Mr. Shipley was an accomplished pianist and performed at Carnegie Hall with Carol Channing. Locally, he shared his musical talent and performed for the Waters of Salamanca Nursing Home and the Allegany Senior Center. He was a patron of Friends of Good Music and enjoyed local theater productions and concerts in the park. He is survived by a niece Wendy (John) Colbert of Old Greenwich, CT; a nephew Rich (Wendy) Capen of San Jose California; great nieces Elise and Danielle Colbert and great nephews John Daniel Colbert and Garrett Capen; two cousins Dr. William Shipley of Chestnut Hill, MA and Barbara Boyle of Chico, CA. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister Beth Capen. Friends will be received on Thursday (May 27, 2004) from 7:00 - 8:00 PM at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean where funeral services will be conducted on Friday (May 28, 2004) at 4:00 PM. Rev Charles Elwell, pastor of the Valley Christian Assembly will officiate. Committal services and inurnment will be conducted at Ferncliff Mausoleum, Hartsdale, NY.
