Judson "Jud" R. Spring Allegany, NY-- Judson "Jud" R. Spring of 3849 Old State Rd. died Sunday (July 11, 2004) in his home after a lengthy illness. Born December 25, 1933 in Allegany, NY he was the son of John and Iva Snyder Spring. On October 5, 1979 in Allegany he married Judith Fye who survives. Mr. Spring was a graduate of Allegany High School and had lived in Allegany all of his life. He had been employed by the former Line Material in Olean for twenty years, and later for Cattaraugus County Nursing Home and then for the County Highway Department prior to his retirement. He had been a volunteer fireman for the Allegany Engine Co. where he served a two year term as chief, and had been honored as a fifty year member of the department. He enjoyed several sports and he was a fan of the NY Yankees, the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed NASCAR and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. Surviving besides his wife are three sons Phillip J. (Carol) Spring, Randy J. (Diane) Spring and Dana J. (Toni) Spring, all of Allegany; one daughter Angela S. (Monty) Howden of Allegany; two stepdaughters Lisa (Brian) Klever of Cameron Mills, NY and Michelle (Ron) Bliven of Hinsdale, NY; 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; four brothers Jay Spring of Olean, Jerry (Joann) Spring of Allegany, James (Ann) Spring of San Diego, CA and John Spring of Portville; one sister Betty (Emmanuel) Nicosia of Akron, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Joseph Spring and two sisters Merlyn Wetzel and Sue Getchell. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean today from 5 until 8pm. Funeral and committal services will immediately follow at 8:00pm. Rev. Gerard W. Drum, retired, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department or the Allegany-Limestone Scholarship Fund.
