Dear Babe and Shoemaker Families,
Since our families grew up together in the same neighborhood, we are practically life-long friends. Our families were and still are intertwined, so the loss of Katie and Neil is deeply felt by us. Katie was a talented, creative lady with a wonderful smile and great laugh. Such a joyful person to be around. I always loved coming back to Olean for OHS class reunions knowing I would see Katie and Barbara there, and all the rest of your family at some point. Leslie ad I have arranged for a Mass to be said at St. Mary’s Basilica on 6/25/2019 at 0700, for both Katie and Neil. Please know that we will always have Katie in our hearts, Babe. Our sincerest condolences to you all. We send much love and many prayers to you.

I arrived at SBU in 1974 and probably met Katie in the early 80's when she worked in purchasing. We bonded over country music as I called her Patsy (after Patsy Cline) and she called me Hank (after Hank Williams). As we all know, there are very few Katie's in the world which is much too bad. She was a person that could easily give of herself for others and exuded a life so much bigger than herself. With Katie in the room, all could feel her smile and love her personality. We left feeling happier and better. Our community will miss her. Her posted picture is perfect.
