Genevieve M. Rinus

Olean, NY     Genevieve M. Rinus, 101, passed away Sunday (November 4, 2018) at the Absolut of Allegany after a long illness.

Born October 30, 1917 in Olean she was the daughter of Bertram and Nina LaPorte Shearer.  

Genevieve attended and graduated from Olean schools.  She then worked in various retail stores in Olean until the 2nd World War at which time she relocated to Buffalo, where she worked at the Curtis Wright airplane factory.  It was there that she met and married her husband, William Rinus in 1944.  After the war they settled in Buffalo.  After her husband's death in 1976, she returned to Olean.

She volunteered at the St. Francis and Olean General Hospitals and enjoyed and participated for many years at the Olean Senior League and went with them on their trips.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; 1 brother William (Mable) Shearer and 4 sisters Katherine Gillespie, Mary (Ned) Hall, Eleanor (Fred) Kenyon and Daisy (Harry) Sherman.

At Genevieve's request, there will be no visitation.  A private graveside service will be held at the Allegany Cemetery.
