Gerald L. Barnes
Allegany, NY-- Gerald L. Barnes of 4034 Route 417 died today (Wednesday November 5, 2003) in the Olean General Hospital.
Born March 18, 1911 in Petrolia, NY he was the son of Homer and Anna Norton Barnes. He was married for 68 years to Gertrude Trowbridge who survives.
Mr. Barnes was retired from South Penn Oil Co. after 42 years of employment.
Surviving besides his wife are 2 sisters Earsol Mattison and Rena Cowles, both of Wellsville; 1 brother Darwin Barnes of Wellsville and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased his father Homer Barnes, his mother Anna Barnes Trowbridge and 6 brothers and sisters Gladys Walden, Arthur Barnes, Norton Barnes, Evelyn Van Curen, Elizabeth Barnes and Francis Leroy Barnes.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday (November 7, 2003) from 2 until 3pm. A graveside service will immediately follow in Allegany Cemetery with Rev. Ellsworth Jackson, interim minister of the First Presbyterian Church in Allegany to officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
