John L. Miller
"Loving husband, father, grandfather and brother"
Allegany, NY John L. Miller, 66, of 4960 Route 417, passed away Tuesday (July 10, 2018) at the Olean General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born September 15, 1951 in Olean he was the son of Walter F. and Mildred Milgate Miller. In 1989 he met Paula Robertson and on August 21, 1993 they were married in Allegany.
John joined the US Navy in 1969 and served in the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1970.
He worked for the former Marra Bros. Motor Co., Inc. in Olean as a mechanic for 17 years. He was an avid collector of items, especially smoking pipes and unique watches. He had a model car collection and he enjoyed fishing. Recently he became a member of the Allegany American Legion Post 892.
His family was a priority with him and he treasured the company of his wife, children and grandchildren. He lovingly referred to his son John's wife Miranda as his "favorite daughter-in-law".
In addition to his wife Paula he is survived by 5 sons John L. (Miranda) Miller, II, Joshua L. Miller and Jessy L. Miller, all of Medina; Shane A. Miller of Olean and Aaron R. (Ashley) Robertson of Biloxi, MS; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Midge (Tim) Works of Warren, PA and Barbie (Nate) Starling of Apopka, FL; 1 brother Walt E. Miller of Sanford, FL; 3 step siblings Frank McAdoo, Brenda McAdoo and Charlotte McAdoo and many nieces and nephews.
The family invites friends to a memorial visitation on Saturday (July 28, 2018) from 1-2pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State St. Olean. A celebration of John's life and reception will immediately follow at a place to be announced..
