Mary C. Sturdy

Allegany, NY     Mary C. Sturdy of 4115 S. Nine Mile Rd. passed away Wednesday (July 4, 2018) at the Olean General Hospital, after a long battle with cancer.

Born January 21, 1957 in Olean she was the daughter of James and Kay Blessing McCarthy.  On July 21, 1979 at the St. Bonaventure University Chapel she married Neil R. Sturdy who survives.

Mary was a wonderful, loving woman who adored her family and cherished the company of her cats.  She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, and, together with her husband, loved traveling and visiting Daytona Beach.

Surviving besides her husband are her mother of Allegany; 1 sister Sara McCarthy of Tampa, FL; 2 brothers Kevin McCarthy and John McCarthy, both of Ft. Meyers, FL; a brother-in-law Don Sturdy of Marblehead, MA; a sister-in-law Leonora (Joseph) Bularzik of Syracuse and several nieces and nephews who thought the world of her, including her special Godchild Abby.

She was predeceased by her father.

Neil and the family welcome friends to an informal gathering in celebration of Mary's life that will take place Wednesday (July 11, 2018) at Valley View Estates.  Friends may begin arriving at 5pm.
