Gregory Thomas Wilcox
Bastrop, TX Gregory Thomas Wilcox, formerly of Olean, passed away Tuesday (October 31, 2017) in Austin, Texas.
Born August 25, 1954 in Olean, he was the son of Donald G. and Catherine E. Lyke Wilcox. He was formerly married to Betty Bjelland of Buda, TX.
Greg attended St. John’s Parochial School, and graduated from Olean Jr. and Sr. High Schools and attended The State University of New York at Albany. He was an Army vet, having served in Germany.
He worked several years at the United States Post Office in Austin, Texas. Greg was an avid deer hunter and coin collector.
Surviving are his siblings Gary (Carol) Wilcox of Summerville, SC, Gail (John) Woods of Columbia, MD, Janine (Robert) Riedinger of Watchung, NJ, Judy Dombek of Buffalo and John (Shelly) Wilcox of Colorado Springs, CO; 6 nieces; 3 nephews; 6 grand-nephews and 3 grand-nieces.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday (November 16, 2017) from 9-10am at St. John's Church in Olean. A memorial mass will begin at 10am in the church. Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Immediately following the burial, friends are invited to join with the family for a meal at the Beef 'N Barrel Restaurant in Olean.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations in Greg’s name be made to a charity of donor's choice.
