Obituary of Robert M. Walsh

“Devoted Father and Grandfather” Olean- Robert M. Walsh, of 147 Adams Street, passed away Tuesday (November 8, 2016) at the Absolut Care of Houghton. Born November 4, 1932 in Olean, he was the son of Patrick and Elfrieda Koblinger Walsh. Mr. Walsh was a graduate of Allegany Central School. He enlisted in the United States Navy during 1952-1956 and was very proud to serve on the USS Hornet. Mr. Walsh later went to work at Dresser Rand in Olean, where he worked for thirty eight years. He was an avid golfer and bowler, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Surviving are four children Deborah (Jon) Determan of Brandywine, MD, Lynn Walsh Fair of West Hartford, CT, Michael (Nora) Walsh of Houston, TX, Mary (Eli) Navarro of Flagstaff, AZ; six grandchildren Jason (Kellie) Walsh, Sonya Mickens, Larissa (Carl) Williams, Jessica Walsh, Benjamin Walsh, Bianca Walsh; twelve great-grandchildren; seven siblings Tom Walsh of Allegany, Mary Walsh of New York City, Virginia Walsh of New York City, Kathleen (Tony) Bartolo of the Poconos, John (Shirley) Walsh of Allegany Dorothy Brunner of Hinsdale, and Margaret Walsh of Olean; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings William and Richard Walsh and Joan Rado. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean, on Saturday from 8:30-9:30am for a memorial visitation. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be at the Mt. View Cemetery Veterans Field of Honor with a full military service provided by the Allegany American Legion. Donations may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
