Obituary of Marilyn F. Teachman Ross

Marilyn F. Teachman (Ross) "Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother" Olean, NY Marilyn Faith Teachman (Ross), formerly of Irving St. and also S. 4th St. passed away peacefully Thursday (October 6, 2016) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean. Born April 26, 1931 in Olean she was the daughter of Howard and Edith Kelly Miller. On October 27, 1951 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Olean she married Emerson Neal Teachman, Sr. who predeceased her March 25, 1984. She later married Anthony Robert Ross who survives. Mrs. Teachman was a 1951 graduate of Olean High School and had worked for various stores in Olean including W.T. Grant Co., Carnahan's Men's Store, J.C. Penny and Reid's Food Barn. She last worked for AM&A's Department Store, retiring in 1988. She was a 73-year member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served as a secretary for the former Olean Coin Club. She enjoyed collecting recipes and found joy in cooking and baking for her family, especially for holiday meals. She also collected salt and peppershakers and enjoyed watching birds and doing puzzles. Surviving are a daughter Susan (David) Laverty of Olean; 2 sons E. Neal (Debbie) Teachman, Jr. and Steven (Rose) Teachman, both of Olean; 4 grandchildren Victoria Teachman, Jonathon (Stephanie Schmieg) Teachman and Bryan (Jessica) Laverty, all of Olean and Heather (Mike) Richardson of Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and 3 sisters-in-law Charlene Parker, Nina Moravec and Ila Moore, all of Bellingham, WA. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister Betty Nodler. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. Funeral services will be held Monday (October 10, 2016) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Bruce Laverty will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Because of Mrs. Teachman's love of animals, especially cats, the family suggests memorials may be made to the SPCA of Cattaraugus County (General Fund), PO Box 375, Olean, NY 14760.
