Obituary of Shirley A. Hoy

Shirley A. Hoy Hinsdale, NY Shirley A. Hoy, a four-year resident of Underwood Manor, passed away Thursday (June 23, 2016) at the Olean General Hospital after a sudden illness. Born May 28, 1948 in Olean she was a daughter of Herbert and Alice Williams Knapp. On May 20, 1969 she married Wilbert Hoy who predeceased her August 22, 2010. Shirley was a 1966 graduate of Olean High School. She worked at various stores in the Olean area including the former W.T. Grant Co., the former Hi-Q Co. and the former D&K store. She was a loving wife and mom and a special "Grams" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are 3 daughters Tracy Hoy of Wellsville, Rachel Crum of Olean and Catherine (Scott) Talbott of Killbuck; 11 grandchildren Jamie, Alyia, Jonathon, Heather, Aaron, Cody, Sydney, Jerry, Daniel, Amanda and Dustin; 13 great grandchildren; 1 brother Al (Vie) Knapp of Rochester; 1 sister Rose LaFrenz of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister Roberta Emmons. The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday (June 30, 2016) from noon until 2pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Services will begin at 2pm in the funeral home. Rev. Clara Wilder, pastor of River's Edge United Methodist Church in Portville, will officiate. Memorials may be made to Homecare and Hospice, 1225 W.
