Obituary of Donna M. Robbins

Donna M. Robbins Olean, NY Donna M. Robbins of 242 S. Barry St. passed away Thursday (June 9, 2016) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean after a long illness. Born August 3, 1926 in Olean she was the daughter of John H. and Helen Hollander Schnell. Donna was a graduate of Olean High School and first worked as a civilian for the Department of the US Navy in Washington, DC. After returning to Olean she worked at various department stores including the former Montgomery Ward, Carnahan's Women's Store and Bradner's Department Store. For a number of years she owned the former McCaffery's Store in Allegany and the Bridal Nook in Olean. She then worked for several more years at the former AM&A's and Bonton stores prior to her retirement at age 72. She loved sewing, reading, doing puzzles and she enjoyed the company of her cats. Surviving are 2 daughters Gail D. (Mark) LaRue of Bradenton, FL and Diane Camp of Olean; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Jackie Gattuso of Olean and Marilyn (Clayton) Carey of Tullahoma, TN; a sister-in-law Bernice Robbins of Belmont and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Donna had a loving and longtime friendship with Susan Buckley of Olean who predeceased her on March 4, 1995. Friends will be received on Sunday (June 12, 2016) from 1-4pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Services will begin at 4:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the SPCA in Cattaraugus County, PO Box 375 Olean, NY 14760 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
