Vincent R. Riehle Allegany, NY Vincent R. Riehle, of 3748 Birch Run Rd., passed away Sunday (December 20, 2015) at the Cuba Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Born March 4, 1925 in Allegany he was the son of George F. and Regina M. O'Meara Riehle. On June 30, 1948 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany he married Loretta B. Putt who survives. Mr. Riehle was a graduate of Allegany High School and he served with the US Navy Seabees during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He first worked for Sue Bros. Oil Co. from 1948 to 1952. From 1953 to 1982 he was employed by Work and Silvis Co., Inc. as an equipment operator. He then worked for L.C. Whitford Co. as an operating engineer from 1982 until his retirement in 1989. He kept busy in his retirement years by mowing the Town of Allegany baseball fields. He was also Justice of the Peace for the town of Allegany, later becoming the Allegany Town Justice for which he served from 1958 until 1983. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and also the Operating Engineers Local # 017B in Buffalo. He was a lifelong member of the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 and the Allegany Fire Department. Surviving besides his wife are 1 daughter Susan E. (Michael) Rose of Honeoye Falls; 2 sons Michael (Leslie) Riehle and Robert (Ruthe) Riehle, both of Allegany; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 brother Linus Riehle of Elizabeth City, NC; 1 sister Maryann Brooks of Randolph and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday (December 23, 2015) at 9:30 at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with full military honors being accorded by the Allegany American Legion Ritual Team. Memorials may be made to the Allegany American Legion, 4350 Route 417 Allegany, NY 14706 or to the Allegany Engine Co. 188 W. Main St. Allegany, NY 14706.
