Obituary of Alan J. Baker

Alan J. Baker Olean, NY Alan J. Baker, 62, of 115 W. Green St. passed away Saturday (December 5, 2015) at the Olean General Hospital after a brief illness. Born March 9, 1953 in Roswell, New Mexico he was the son of Verne and Shirley M. Thompson Baker. Alan attended Allegany High School and enlisted with the US Marine Corps in 1970 where he served in Cuba and later as a sergeant stationed at Camp Lejeune until his discharge in 1974. He first worked in Olean for Vander Horst Corporation and later, along with his brother, worked the construction and maintenance business for many years in both Texas and Mississippi. He returned to the Olean area recently due to disability. Surviving are 2 sons Alan J. (Molly) Baker, Jr. of Tucson, AZ and Scott (Shelli) Baker of Olean; 2 grandchildren Brooke Baker and Zachary Baker; 4 siblings Gail (Gary) Feuchter of Olean, John (Kathy) Besok of Allegany, Shirley Barton of Channelview, TX and Robert Besok of Olean and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Steven Baker and a sister Valerie Taylor. No services are being scheduled at this time. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery in Olean. Memorials may be made to a veterans organization of the donor's choice or to the Allegany American Legion Ritual Team, 4350 Route 417W Allegany, NY 14706.
