Obituary of Alma Folland

Vienna VA ~ Alma Folland, formerly of Sherwood Drive, Allegany, passed away on Tuesday (November 17, 2015) at the Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA. Born July 2, 1922 in Monaca, PA, she was the daughter of Sylvester and Gertrude Gretch Billigen. She married Harold “Pete” Folland, who predeceased her in 1983. Mrs. Folland worked as an accountant for Esso Oil from 1965-1969. Later, she served as Allegany Central School’s accountant from 1970-1985. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and a former member of the Lady's Knights of Columbus Allegany Council #1220. She attended Our Lady of Good Council in Vienna, VA. Mrs. Folland enjoyed quilting, gardening, painting, and spending time with her dog, Taffy. She lived life to the fullest and was happiest surrounded by her many grandchildren. She was also lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan even cheering them on this past weekend. She is survived by one son, Mark (Shelly) Folland of Hinsdale; daughter Christine (Sean) Doherty of Vienna, VA, daughter Carol Ann (Robert) Frank of Monaca, PA; one daughter-in-law Diana Folland of Olean; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nephews Robert (Adrienne) Woelfel of Pittsburgh, PA and Greg (Diane) Billigen of Susanville, CA. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her beloved son David, brother Edward Billigen and sister Mary Wieler. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 NYS Rte 417W on Friday from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (November 21, 2015) beginning with a 9:00 am prayer service at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
