Sandee and family,
Jerry and I were friends and basketball teammates at ACS. We did not see much of one another in later years. It was mainly limited to class reunions where we would always reminisce about our high school triumphs, especially the sectional championship of 1956.
I am very sorry for your loss.

Allegany is the town that I think of when I look at a Norman Rockwell painting. Life there was reminiscent of the gilded age era of living. It seems to be the last place you can find a teacher who was a true outdoorsman.
Mr. Eaton was a great teacher and a friend to most every student that knew him. I will never forget the stories he would tell during his class time.
I am sorry for your loss and offer my condolences.

Thinking of your family at this very sad time...Jerry was such a bright, kind and funny man for whom so many of us had the greatest respect. I was among the decades of students who were fortunate to have learned from him, and also the score of teachers who taught along side him. He will be missed by us all.

Mr. Eaton was my physics teacher in 1974-1975. He was the best!! He made every class fun. He even helped me out on a Chem lab or two ( or three) when I was a junior! My kids were privileged to have either had him as a teacher or to have forged a friendship with him in school. Mr. Eaton was the kind of person that you could always trust and always count on. In later years, we would inevitably get into conversations outside a store in Olean or Allegany. He'd always tell me to call him Jerry. I could never do it! I had so much respect for him that anything but Mr. Eaton didn't seem right! Thank you, Mr. Eaton, for bringing knowledge and humor into the classroom. And thank you for being a friend! May God bless the Eaton family with wonderful memories. Sleep sweetly, Mr. Eaton. Your students will always carry you in our hearts.

With fondness, I will always remember Mr Eaton. As I think of him I smile. He always had time for his students, especially those like me who struggled with physics. He shared many jokes and stories. Over the years and there have been many since high school, whenever I would see him, he took time to talk and share a memory and a laugh. Godspeed Mr Eaton. Thank you for the memories! You will be missed by many. Sincere condolences to Sandy and your family.

Jerry Eaton... the gentle giant. He was always tolerant of our antics and gave us nearly free reign to explore science. That was the best way to learn. By getting our hands dirty and our imaginations' stimulated he set many of us off on a course for a full life. Forever grateful. Godspeed Jerry!

Jerry taught me many lessons that have stood well throughout life. His intense coaching style was balanced by his good humor and the personal touch of individual instruction. I attribute to him and the other young men he instructed my four year success in college basketball and the love of the game that has continued for more than forty years. Far more important though, was the exemplary character he always displayed as a personal example and the perseverance he instilled for sports and life.
I have mentioned him frequently through the years as one of the four men most influential in my life, second only to my own father in my teen years.
Good teachers don't realized that a brief relationship with students under their care can reap rewards for time and eternity, about which they will never know in this world.
My condolences to the family, may God bless your future happiness though a part of you will be missing now.

Big Jerr, was one of the first friends I had when I started teaching. He mentored me not only as a teacher and young coach, but, most importantly, as a friend. We camped, fished, and hunted together many times. Always quick with a joke he made me smile often. "The Big Fella" was a gentle giant, truly, a kind and gentle man. You'll be missed! The world is a better place for your being here! Rest in Peace my friend.
